I have gone back and forth for years about writing this, but after almost four years of physical, emotional, and financial damage, I feel an obligation to warn others. This man has caused me so much pain and suffering over the last 4 years, and it’s still going. He messed up every single procedure on me so terribly it has caused me physical pain, discomfort, and made me feel terrible about myself. I trusted Dr. Gurkan Kayabasoglu with jaw and cheek implant surgery, and the result has been one of the most stressful and destabilizing experiences of my life. From the beginning, things were wrong. The cheek implants caused constant, ongoing eye irritation that never resolved. The cheek implants were asymmetrical, and the jaw implants were also asymmetrical. Over time it became clear that this was not swelling or normal healing. It was poor placement and poor execution. Worse, the surgery resulted in masseter muscle dehiscence, a serious complication that should never occur in an elective cosmetic procedure. One of the jaw implants became loose and unstable, forcing me to undergo a revision surgery just to screw it back into place. That revision did not resolve the underlying issues. It only prolonged the ordeal. What followed were years of stress, anxiety, and constant uncertainty. Living with a botched face takes a massive psychological toll. I was left questioning my appearance, my health, and whether something else would fail over time. This has consumed nearly four years of my life. The most infuriating part was how responsibility was handled. I was initially told that revisions would be free if needed. When serious complications occurred, I was then told I would need to pay over €6,000 for corrective surgery to fix problems that were clearly caused by the original operation. I was even pressured with claims that “inflation in Turkey” would soon increase the cost by another €1,000 if I did not book quickly. Being financially pressured after a failed surgery was shocking and deeply unethical. Ultimately, I lost all trust. I was forced to seek corrective surgery elsewhere, spending tens of thousands of dollars out of pocket to undo damage that never should have happened. No patient should have to go through this physically, mentally, or financially. Cosmetic surgery requires trust, accountability, and long term responsibility. In my experience with Dr. Gurkan Kayabasoglu, when things went wrong, that responsibility disappeared. I deeply regret this decision, and I hope this review prevents someone else from losing years of their life to the same experience.
